Today was the big day—Maple's new backpack finally arrived! I’d been eagerly waiting for this moment ever since I placed the order weeks ago. What better way to test it out than a quick jaunt to REI? A short trip, but perfect to see how she takes to her new gear. I’m proud to say that Maple wasn’t the least bit fazed. Kudos to my training skills—ha ha!
First impressions? This backpack is a game-changer. It’s way airier than her old one, which is perfect for keeping her cool during our walks. While the old pack had a sleeve for water bladders, this one comes with a nifty clip to keep everything upright—a nice touch in my opinion!
One hilarious (and somewhat impressive) discovery while we waited in line was Maple’s newfound talent: she can jump on top of the pack even when she’s clipped in. This might just be my new favorite trick, and hopefully help her on longer hikes. Given how hard I’ve tried to get her to perch on my shoulder, this feels like a win.
In the end, I think this backpack is a keeper. Maple seemed comfortable and happy, and I can already see us embarking on many more adventures with it.
